Finger Lakes Gravel Challenge Preview Ride

3/21/2016

Comments

Please RSVP to our Facebook Event
Course (route goes clockwise): https://www.strava.com/routes/3622490
Join us for a course preview ride on April 9th. Meet at Harriet Hollister Spencer State Park and be prepared to roll AT 10:00am. We will be riding the long course as a group. No one will be left behind, but please be respectful of the rest of the group and plan to be able to manage on your own if you are unable to ride a 15-16mph pace for 2 hours. We will stop and regroup at the top of all of the climbs. The total time to finish the ride may end up over 3 hours so plan your day accordingly. Make sure you have spare tubes, tools, drink and food. Cell phone service is mostly good but coverage may not always be available. Ride at your own risk. This ride is a casual, fun get-together and is not sanctioned or insured. There will be no mechanical, nutritional, or hydration support. The ride is fully self supported and every rider must be responsible for getting themselves to the end.

Thanks to Kask Helmets, Towpath Bike, and the tremendous support of all of our team sponsors, Team Towpath will be decked out in the latest aero road helmet from Kask, the Protone. Kask Helmets are second to none when it comes to quality and value. The Protone has excellent crash protection, is lightweight, aerodynamic, very comfortable, and frankly - looks freaking awesome. If you're near the front of a race that we're at, you'll be sure to see our Kask Helmets on display there.

"-17F at the start, no wind, the course was perfect corduroy, this is how Fat bike races should be."
"You Wheelie Make My Heart Race" was held today in -17° weather at Byrncliff Resort and Conference Center. Byncliff is better known this time of year for it's nordic skiing center, but today it hosted fat bikes on it's Pisten Bully groomed trails. The event is produced by our friends at Campus Wheel Works of Buffalo, and is a special Valentine's Day treat for area cyclist.

Congrats to our own Dick Camping on his 2nd place finish in the Sport category, and 5th overall!

2016 Manning and Napier Tour de Cure

Team Towpath
WE’RE MAKING A DIFFERENCE. YOU CAN TOO.
We ride because we are proud to do our part to Stop Diabetes. This year is more special than ever because it’s the 25th Anniversary of the Tour de Cure.

We are teaming up now to change the future and make a positive impact in the lives of those who are affected by diabetes. We are committed to ride and raise money in this inspirational event not because 29 million people in the United States have diabetes, but because we personally know some of them, and want to do something about it.

If you can't join us, support us!

By making a donation or joining our team, you will be helping the Association provide community-based education programs, protect the rights of people with diabetes and fund critical research for a cure.

Here’s just one way funds raised by our team contribute to the work of the Association. Recently, the California Supreme Court ruled in the Association’s favor, allowing school personnel to volunteer and be trained to help children with insulin—allowing them to survive and thrive in school. This was a landmark win for people with diabetes.

As a team, united in our desire to Stop Diabetes, we are asking for your support. Please make a donation to one of our team members or become one of us by joining our team. When we bring together dedicated team members and kind donors, the power we have as a group far outweighs what any of us could do alone.

We are determined to reach our team goal, one rider at a time. So let's get in gear and ride to Stop Diabetes!

To make a general donation to the team that will not count toward any individual participant, click here.

FInger Lakes Gravel Challenge Course Maps

1/10/2016

Comments

Here are the courses that we have planned. The course plans are tentative and will depend on road conditions, but this will give you an idea of what to expect. There are many miles of seasonal roads and winter can really take an unpredictable toll on these roads, and it's even possible that there may still be snow/ice at the higher elevations in late April. We don't expect to have to make any changes, but we do anticipate the possibility and we'll ask for your patience for a final decision.

Over the winter some of the seasonal roads may not be passable, and cell phone coverage in the area can be unreliable. Please be very cautious if you go out to ride or drive the course before there's been an extended period of warm weather.
